This year of tears that promised 'the loss of loved ones' continues to do so.
A giant of 'Abduction' and UFO research, a man of shining wisdom, retired police sergeant Tony Dodd has passed away. He was a great and modest man. A star of British Ufology he remained a down-to-Earth copper and Yorkshireman.
When people struggling with their and their loved ones' otherworld encounters contacted him Tony was there for them. He was there for me.
Tony was there for the Andrews too and Ann Andrews has always emphasised how she and her family only managed to survive the trauma that came with Jason's contacts because Tony always, any time, day or night, made himself available to them.
Tony was also intelligent, diligent, generous and empathetic and he saw the world of 'experiencers' through the eyes of an experiencer. He's been to the strange places and his professional expertise and insights meant that he was 'noticed'.
Tony's book, 'ALIEN INVESTIGATOR', as I've written before, is one of the very best UFO-related books there are. It was something that he reported in there that led to my contacting him. He immediately telephoned me and we corresponded by mail and telephone after that. Tony told me that he was investigating the abduction of a whole street of people, Under Surface Objects (USOs) and animal mutilations that were actively being suppressed by the government. His contacts with police and other arms of government meant that he was in receipt of intelligence and information that few others were party to - and he was threatened. Eventually, not due to threats against himself, he had to retire from intense research.
Tony had a follow up manuscript to 'Alien Investigator' (which was to include some of my photographs and testimony) but the publisher pulled out.
I had considered including Tony's letters to me in my new book 'Dogged Days', as I had with the late John Mack, but because I knew that Tony was very ill I didn't trouble him for permission. He probably would not have objected.
They don't make them like Tony anymore and the world is poorer for it.
My life has been enriched by Tony's presence here.
Godspeed Mr Dodd those among us whose lives you touched will never forget you.
