The more intelligent we are, the more foolish we become. This is because intellect subdues our other means of expression and experience, which are emotions and intuition. Intellect, being the quickest of our senses encourages us to believe that it is the most valid, the most powerful and the most desirable. Society has fallen hook-line and sinker for this charlatanism. Perhaps the grossest expression of it is our reliance upon exam results to determine our success in life. Exams are totally biased towards people who are of an intellectual disposition. So we are measured by how unbalanced we are. The more unbalanced in favour of the intellect one is the more of a leg up you can expect. In fact if you can so squash your emotions to the point of care-less-ness then you are set on a highway to riches and glory. In this way this system in so-called civilised society earns itself a hierarchy, which doesn't acknowledge the validity of emotions and intuition. Hence we achieve the conditions we live under today.
Men are taught right from the beginning to suppress that 2/3 of their nature, emotions and intuition. It is not, contrary to popular belief, that men do not have these faculties in the same way as women. They have just been bullied into ignoring them. The very essence of us, our spirit, has no gender. Therefore our invisible sensitivities are not governed by such gross details as physical form.
Women seem to be more intuitive, more caring, only because they have been sidelined by a society ostensibly controlled by men. Until very recently their role was limited to caring for the family, they were actively and brutally denied any outlet for their intellectual ambitions. Hence women became unbalanced too, but in opposition to the state that men were cajoled into. Women became heavily focussed on their emotions. Their first responses became emotional whereas males learned to react intellectually. None of this through any natural propensities, it was all achieved by imposition from elsewhere. Modern times have seen the introduction of women into arenas outside the home. Now we are seeing intellectually based females rising into prominent places in society. We call it women's liberation. But it is not; it's just another illusion. All that has occurred is that some women have escaped the binds of emotional subservience for the constraints of intellectual baubles.
The fruits of any human dependency upon the intellect at the expense of emotions and intuition, are obvious. People don't get along with each other. Marriage breakdowns, crime, wars - they are all the profits of this kind of living.
The potential and real earthly role of males may have been lost in the mists of time. Although some have managed to make it through with a balanced attitude, it is not encouraged. So long have they been controlled to behave in a 'man-like' fashion don't cry, be logical, get pissed, don't let anyone see or know how you really feel, you are not worth anything as an individual, women and children first, your country needs you (wants to get rid of you).
Women, who at one time naturally craved the satisfaction of nurturing children, no longer value motherhood in the same way. Besotted, like men, by what others preach the one link holding the human family together is quickly shattering. Children are now being taught that emotions and intuition should be discarded - both mum and dad have done it. The only reality is the physical and what we don't know, our scientists know, so there's no need to bother our heads about what electricity is, for example. Children learn by example. Many women, drunk on a constant glass of 'to be happy you must' have abandoned their uniqueness.
The very last thing the intellect wants is for you to recognise that there is more to you than the ego. It will stop at nothing to remain in control. It will bribe, lie, cheat, threaten and otherwise persuade you to be faithful to its assumed authority. It is the government of your self if you will. Watch the politicians and the behaviour of governments. They are a projection of the modern day human being, all intellect, ego and no emotion, no spirit. In this symbolic macrocosm, intuition is relegated to a minimal number of individuals. They are always individuals because a spirit is unique. Consequently intellectually focussed society fears the loner, the individual who doesn't follow the herd. There are more people who represent care, but these have hierarchies that have achieved their positions through passing exams, not because of a pronounced caring ability.
The intellect fears above all else the spirit, intuition, the voice crying in the wilderness. The New Testament uses St John (the moon symbol for intuition) who dipped the head (sun - symbol for intellect) into the waters (the deep the unconscious where intuition lives) to partake of its wisdom and thereby enable our consciousness to reawaken (be born again) with a new and wiser outlook.
We have been persuaded to avoid looking into the deep the dark places, to fear it, to ignore it, and as a last resort to ridicule it. Even though, if we just think for a moment, all life and all of our ideas originate in the dark. Life begins in the dark places.
Our ego is confined to only one view of life, a ground view. Our spirit can fly and that is why it is also symbolised as a bird, often a white dove or an eagle. It has a view of life that the intellect can never have, but it is more subtle and therefore less governed by immediacy. The intuition grants us choice whereas the intellect is a tyrant. Tyranny derives from fear.
Freedom is born from love.
