Elder Kenneth Johnson and architect Alan Henderson outside the farthest flung temple from Utah
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, alias the Mormons have stepped-up their presence in the Illuminati capital of Perth, Western Australia.
On 20th May 2001 the Church's international president; American Gordon Hinckley will dedicate the world's 106th (16) temple in Wordsworth Avenue, Yokine (a suburb of Perth).
Meanwhile a church that has had more doors shut in its face than a railway-station dunny is to open up its new premises to the foolhardy, sorry, public for 2 weeks from 28th April until 12th May. After the 12th May those who have not signed-up will be forbidden from its doors. Such irony.
ABANDON ALL HOPE....?
Those volunteering for an earbashing (and they are expecting 50,000) will be able to tour the complex including the holy-of-holies, the celestial room, where they claim to have trapped the presence of God. In this starry chamber surrounded by gilded mirrors eternal silence is maintained under a crystal chandelier. After the magickal day, 20th May only financial members who have towed the line will have the honour of hanging out in the God-cell.
The 1100sq m (11) temple, which cost its 11 million (11) worldwide membership $9 million was designed by architect, Alan Henderson (och aye). Built from Italian white marble and richly adorned with hand-carved carpets, expensive paintings, furniture and stonework.
One of the baptismal fonts is supported by 12 fibreglass oxen (very appropriate in the suburb of Yoke-ine, I thought) formed like
the rays of the sun. The water in the 12-sided font and the whole birds-eye view is for followers of my other work, wait for it .....a-n-o-th-e-r Moon Tree.
Apparently this sect is the fastest growing religion in Australia with an estimated 104,000 members, 12,000 of who are in Western Australia. But I wonder how many of these are children who have been press-ganged into it?
There are some allegations of appalling outrages concerning some members of this cult which you can read here
The LDS (Latter Day Saints-as they modestly call themselves) have sited their church at the confluence of 3 suburbs. Until recently it was 4 suburbs, Menora, Yokine, Inglewood and Dianella. The suburb boundary of Dianella/Yokine, the recently changed Inglewood/Menora boundary (which is still the property boundary of Mount Lawley Golf Course) and the road, Alexander Drive form a pyramid . Within this pyramid are the east/west roads Wordsworth Avenue, Virgil Avenue and Shakespeare Avenue forming the left side of the pyramid. Inglewood Aquatic centre and Wordsworth Reserve fill the right hand side with Wordsworth Avenue being the central road.
The church building has now made way for the new temple. There is some confusion for me at the moment. One address I have for the LDS is 163 Wordsworth Avenue but there is also 176 Virgil Avenue. No doubt there is a simple explanation but as this is just an initial sortie I am sure there will be some other points to consider or reconsider.
However the design they have chosen is very interesting. We already know about the pyramid(s) but there are also:
1) A double-cross - Alexander across Grand Promenade and Walter Road across Grand Promenade.
2) An upside down cross- Walter Road across Grand Promenade.
3) Crooked crosses all over but the Alexander-Woodrow really stands out.
4) A satanic E formed by Homer Street, Virgil Ave and Wordsworth Ave.
Remember this is not the true road layout. This is their version of it.
Take another look at the blow-up of the ox-font. You may have already noticed, there is some script across the stonework. I think it may just be on the photograph though in the newspaper photo this was invisible. I have tried to decipher it-it looks foreign, upside down. If anybody has any idea I would really like to know. It may be nothing, but then...
WHAT'S WRONG WITH SHAKESPEARE?

In the official advertising pull-out the Mormons appear to have displayed poor cartographic skills completely missing 'the Bard', Shakespeare Avenue out altogether. They have also omitted the nice round-about that caps the pyramid at the top of Wordsworth Avenue and renamed Wordsworth Street, Wordsworth Avenue. Perhaps they don't like capital S's. May be it takes the name of their Lord God in vain:
